My Little Trouble Maker

Will Beau (the 14 month old) ever get into brother's school on a full time basis? Since there is not a full time spot, we have been doing the drop in program while we wait. Gannon stayed home today with an ear ache while Beau went to school since there was a spot. Well, he is not helping his cause to get a full time place. I guess during nap time my little Beau was not so sleepy. Twas the day before Wednesday and all through the school, not a thing was stirring...except the fire alarm that my little Beau pulled! Big brother is sad he missed all the excitement. I guess the fire department came and all the kids had to go outside...during nap time! Why on earth was he that close to the alarm anyway (way to shift the blame mommy:) I would rather he get to know the fire department than the police department this early!

Ode to Joe

In honor of my father's 60th birthday I thought it was only appropriate I write about him. When I was little I thought it was funny that his birthday was three days after mine; that whole chicken and the egg then. Now it is just another conformation (in the stars maybe?) on why and how we are so alike. I am a daddy's girl at heart. Coming from a divorced family I did not spend much time with my traveling Coast Guard father when I was in grade school or junior high but began to make up for lost time in High School. I am definitely an apple that fell from his tree (much like my brother and now my first born) and feel most of my best traits were inherited from my dad. We are not ones to get too mushy so rather than get too sentimental I have provided a list of items that I have learned or inherited from the man. This list is in no particular order because they are all traits that make us great!

1. My fabulous red hair.
2. My green eyes.
3. My tall, thin frame.
4. My ability to swim
(thanks for the backyard lessons)
5. My love of the beach
(thanks for the summer vacations)
6. My ability to embellish a story just enough
to make it exciting and believable.
7. My sense of humor ((I am funny, just ask me)
8. My healthy cynicism.
9. My patience.
10.My education ambitions.
11.My love of oldies.

Even at my age and stage in life I still want to make my father proud. I am not sure if he knows what an influence he has been and continues to be in my life. I love to sit with him and listen to his stories. He has had an interesting life and has fascinating stories to tell about his travels and lessons he has learned along the way. As I get older I face the issue of my parents mortality and wonder if I will ever fully appreciate what they have sacrificed to have children. My mom told me I would never really get it until I became a mother and she was right (sorry mom, this is not about you today, you will have your turn in April). My boys are so lucky to be surrounded with good male role models in their lives. My boys love their G-daddy and I love to watch them play together. Today, Dad, know that you are loved and appreciated today and ever day! Thanks for being a great dad!

Cock a doodle doo!

What happened to my good sleeper? Gannon used to sleep from 7pm to 7am without a peep. He has recently taken to getting up around 5am, turning on his light and saying he is done with his nap! We put foil on his window (we probably look like a meth house from the outside:), then cardboard, a shade, and curtains. His room is pitch black. We have experimented with his bedtime (I was told to do so slowly), which has ranged anywhere from 6:30-8:30. This morning he woke up at 3:30am! We told him he had to go back to bed or lay down with us; he laid down with us until he heard brother cry on the monitor at 5:30, at which time he said "I need milk and Cheerios". That was it, we were up. Fortunatly Beau still sleeps from 6:30pm-7:30am and takes a good two hour nap. Gannon still needs a nap mid-day so I am at my wits end trying to figure this out. I know it is a stage and I will be draggin him out of bed in a few years but I need some assistance now!

Addicted

It is official; I am addicted. Addicted to hugs and kisses from my boys (three if you count the greying 35 year old in the house), addicted to chocolate, and now addicted to blogging. My friend told me it would happen and it has. I find myself checking my traffic log and looking for comments. What is wrong with you people? Don't you see how witty I am? My kids are adorable and my husband has dreamy eyes! You must have something to say...oh what! Maybe I haven't said the right things yet. I will come up with something soon; don't despair.

To be continued...
